TW bought a grono lamp at IKEA a year ago, when we took Michelle for her birthday shopping spree. It wasn’t long before she knocked it over and cracked it. That crack gives it a bit of character, so it’s ok.
When we went to London in February, the flat we rented had a grono lamp - without a crack.
Now, I keep seeing all of the grono lamp modifications and I am dying for IKEA to open in Orlando so I can go buy a half dozen, mod them and give them as gifts.
I was just talking to TW yesterday and to some co-workers the day before about paying for college. Jenn has a college loan. Chris doesn’t, we’ve just paying for his tuition as he goes along. Michelle, I believe, is going to have the highest ticket college of the three. How is that going to be paid? Will she need a loan? Will she have a scholarship (or three)? It’s hard to say, that’s what’s making me nervous.
I’ve started sending her links to information about college loans and financial aid. Better to start now and be prepared! One of her first questions was, “What is a Sallie Mae loan and who is Sallie Mae?” I answered that one for her but directed her to some student loan forums for more questions. I also suggested she send some of this information to her father because her financial aid situation will also be determined by her parents ability to get their taxes done early and provide her with information that she needs.
I’m starting to be a little less nervous about having three kids in college at the same time.
I’m off to NYC next week but a little Italian charm sounds better than NYC charm. A stay on Elba Island is just about as charming as you can get. Elba is very close to Tuscanny. Beaches, scuba diving, biking, Italian food and a garland of virgins. Here’s the Elba Hotel & travel information, which hotel are you booking?
I know, I usually write about silly stuff or link to weird and unusual and interesting stuff. Today, it’s time for a detour to the tough stuff. Drug rehab and just to make things interesting, cord blood too. Dealing with a family member who may need to be in drug rehab is tough, thank goodness the internet has advanced to the point where information and support are readily available.
I like small things. We have a child who likes “tiny” things. smallist is a fun site for all of us. I totally believe you can find better living through smallistry! Smaller is better.
Are you in need of insurance? The ASDA site has both Home Insurance and Car Insurance. The site is nicely designed and easy to use. There is information regarding savings accounts, loans and credit cards as well. A one stop shopping type of website is my favorite kind. Check out the FAQ section, that’s the kind of detail I like to see in this type of website. The more questions you can answer via FAQ, the happier I am.
When I was a kid, I loved it when my mom made pancakes and bacon for breakfast on the weekends. No, I’m not really a fan of pancakes (and I can barely tolerate the sight or smell of bacon). I’ll eat them occasionally but I’d rather have eggs.
This little pancake blog post made me laugh out loud. I’m thinking I will never be able to eat another pancaked without picturing this.
I haven’t blogged about music in awhile, possibly because I haven’t had time to look for new music. Well today that’s all changed. I love independent music so Unsigned is the perfect site for me to wander around and discover new musicians. Looking for Hip Hop Artists? How about Folk or Alternative? You name the gender, Unsigned has it. Ever heard of Carol Plunk? I hadn’t, til now. Good stuff!
I can’t wait til their music player launches. I’m also guessing that the cd creator tool is something Michelle and her friends will be interested in. You can make a compilation cd and SELL IT. Now that’s interesting, don’t you think? Both the artist and the producer (that would be YOU) can make money from the compilation. I really love this idea.
Now I’m off to surf for 10 or 12 more artists I might feature in a compilation cd. I want to be ready when the tool launches!
