My sister uses a mail drop service and it drives me crazy. Only because she’s moved 4 times in the last 5 years and I never know her “real” address to send flowers and perishable deliveries. Having a mail drop address that is static has been helpful though. I probably would always be one address behind and she’d never get any mail from me, ever - especially since she never checks her darn email. I don’t think she actually uses it as a remailing service but it’s always possible.
I was looking at the MaildropGuide and this is a convenient listing! It’s always good to know where a mail service center like this is located in town. They often provide services similar to the post office and their lines are almost always shorter. I know that’s the case with the four that they have listed for my area. One of them is just around the corner and I go there quite often.

It’s that time of year. Do you keep them or don’t you? Do you even make them? I don’t really like them and quit making them years ago. I have enjoyed doing this 101 things in 1001 days thing though. It’s a bit like a new year’s resolution list but it’s extensive and you have a lot of time to follow through. What do you think?

Well, well, well. I expected Pay Per Post to buy something but not this. Performancing, how cool. Totally unexpected and totally awesome acquisition for PPP. Now not only can bloggers make money with their blogs, they can have some great tools to help them along.
PPP didn’t acquire the entire Performancing suite of services, which is too bad because the Firefox editor and the ad network are excellent. But that’s ok, the metrics tools and the online classifieds service actually go along really well with the PPP idea.
I like the Performancing Blogranking widget. It seems to be right on target with the other blogrankings and when your blogranking varies a bit, it’s a quick way to see exactly what rank you are - which is important when taking PPP opps that indicate your blog needs a specific ranking. Good tool for PPP bloggers. Some of the sections of the metrics area haven’t always worked well for me in the past but they felt like one-time glitches. Things like the activity on specific posts and incoming visits from search engines have felt off, when looking at other metrics trackers.
All in all, I’m happy with the acquisition. I think it’s a good move for PPP and for posties.

My friend Anne-Marie at Readable Feast is having a contest at her personal blog. It’s a contest almost everyone can probably enter. Some of us with multiple entries, I’m sure. She’s having a Worst Christmas Present Contest.
Upon reading Anne-Marie’s post, I’m not sure I can beat her husband’s gift, can you?

So how much weight have you gained so far this month? I don’t do scales so I can’t answer that question but I know I’ve gained. For me, gaining isn’t a problem; I tend to be underweight. But I know I’m in the minority and a lot of you have been struggling with your weight, particularly this month. The best advice on this blog is quit cutting calories so darn much! Every time you drop your calories below 1200, you’re screwing with metabolism and that’s just going to mess you up in the end. Healthy choices, portion control and PATIENCE, lots and lots of PATIENCE, that’s the solution to the weight loss problem.
Have you ever thought about personal training? Check out the No Excuses Gym blog. I love the post about germ-free gym workouts and the 20 Ways to Squeeze Exercise Into Your Life list is good.
I don’t usually recommend diet and exercise websites or blogs but in this case, I’ll make an exception. There’s nothing fad-like on this blog, there’s no questionable advice and no “lose weight fast” schemes. Good solid information, that’s it. That’s what a personal trainer should give you. I didn’t say it was easy advice to follow, wouldn’t it be nice if it was?

This was the weirdest Christmas in the history of Christmas. No batteries were required. None. That has never happened to me. And it certainly hasn’t happened since I’ve had six kids. I’m almost feeling like we didn’t do Christmas right because there were no batteries required. Weird. Twilight Zone weird.
Are you reading the PPP blog? You should be. Good stuff happens on that blog every single day. The folks at HP gave PPP some cameras and printers to give away, so there are a lot of videos on the blog from people trying to win them. Colleen won the Rock Star puzzle prize - that’s another $1000, for Colleen, she’s unbeatable. Then there’s the black rose mystery and all of the information about disclosure. The PPP blog has it all. You’re reading it, aren’t you?

OK this is interesting, and a bit of a surprise coming from The Blog Herald. They are giving away $200 to a blog in need of financial assistance. The criteria is that the blog (and by extension, the blogger) must be making the world a better place.
Know a blog (blogger) like that? Go nominate them. You have until the end of the month year.

There was a time when I liked bookkeeping and accounting duties. The columns of numbers, they were nice and neat and organized and there were no hidden meanings. Then, life got complicated and so did the numbers.
I used some bookkeeping software for awhile, that didn’t help because I was too busy to actually enter any data into the program. So I went back to the good old pencil and paper method, talk about dinosaur days! Don’t worry, I went back to software but it might be time to grab Bookkeeping Quickbooks. If things get any more complicated, getting the folks at Accounting Paradise involved might be smart.

OK so not everyone loves to color but I think even people who don’t love to color would love to color themselves - or their favorite kids - or even their favorite pets. Right? If you could gift someone with a coloring book full of coloring pages of people they know, that would be a very popular gift, wouldn’t it? Well what are you waiting for? Thank me later, just get busy creating your coloring book in time for Christmas.
